Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful break with family, friends, and plenty of rest
On the coming mid year transition: At our school we split the year so that half of the year our students are in Computer Science and the other half of the year they are in Engineering. We have accomplished so much already this year and I am very excited to get started with another great bunch of kids. For those students in Computer Science their last week with be the 19th. Those students in Engineering will be starting Computer Science on the 26th of January.
This week in class: As we round out the end of our semester in Computer Science students in first through 4th grade are exploring computer programming with the help of code.org. With the use of block programming students explore the logic behind computers in a fun, accessible, and engaging way Our Kindergarten friends are working on developing their literacy skills with a continuation of writers workshop online. Students are asked to draw a picture and then write a corresponding sentence.
A peek in the classroom:
Many lessons start with what I have termed, "IMF" (Interdisciplinary Media Fusion) ie: a video or song which relates to and explains or expands the weeks topic.Check out the IMF video we are watching to introduce this weeks lessons here:
