General Announcements:
It is looking like our PLTW curriculum will be arriving here this week (fingers crossed) and we are hoping to start PLTW the following week. Despite this temporary hang up we have been having a very productive last couple weeks.
Kindergarten
Kinders having been working on developing their mouse skills. We have been playing various games which require mouse manipulation including those featured on the homepage. Students have been especially inspired by the program: This is Sand. We created global connections with the temporal nature of sand art by looking at sand mandalas created by Buddhist Monks in a celebration of goodwill and positivity.
First & Second Grade
First and second grade students brought Lucy Calkins Writers Workshop into the computer lab with the help of AbcYa's Story Maker. Students created a picture and one or two sentence story to go along with their pictures. Students were able to print these and bring them home so check their bags if you are curious to see their computer lab work!
Third, Fourth, & Fifth Grade
Students in 3-5th grades have been digging deeper into Google Docs. Students have been practicing their journaling skills in order to prepare for our scientific journals we will be doing along with our PLTW curriculum.
Students received individualized assignments through Google Docs through personalized comments. Students learned about adding and resolving comments so that they may ask questions and have an informal conversation while still maintaining a formal document. Again, I would be happy to share these documents with any interested caregivers on view only mode.
